Volunteer Opportunities:

The Cognition Working Group

We are seeking dedicated volunteers to assist with collecting all of the credible scientific evidence for intelligence, cognition, emotions, and complex sociality in several nonhuman species, including killer whales, chimpanzees, orangutans, bonobos, and gorillas. We need help collecting PDFs of all the relevant peer-reviewed scientific papers on the topics above and archiving them in an online folder. Additionally, we are seeking help with creating an accessible online Excel-based bibliography from this collection.

Skills and characteristics needed:

  • Some experience with or familiarity with the animal behavior and cognition literature, particularly for at least one of the species above
  • Familiarity with searching and using online databases, e.g., PUBMED
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel

Lawyers and law students interested in pro bono work

We are looking for volunteer lawyers and law students with excellent academic credentials, strong research and exceptional writing skills, and keen analytical ability.
