Colleen Plumb in conversation with the NhRP

By Mickey Suzuki on September 22, 2020
Share this story:

Today, on Elephant Appreciation Day 2020, artist Colleen Plumb talked with NhRP Director of Government Relations Courtney Fern about our shared vision of a world where all elephants live freely and how art and legal advocacy can help change a status quo that unjustly sees elephants as “things” with no rights:

Colleen’s book Thirty Times a Minute can be purchased here.

You can view Colleen’s Thirty Times a Minute video here.

As referenced in the video, here is what to look for in an ethical sanctuary, and here is list of US zoos with elephant cameras:

  • San Diego Zoo Safari Park
  • Maryland Zoo
  • Houston Zoo
  • Smithsonian National Zoo
  • Memphis Zoo
  • Reid Park Zoo: Camera 1 and Camera 2
  • Sedgwick County Zoo

Thanks again to Colleen for taking the time to speak with us today about her important and inspiring work!

Mickey is the NhRP’s Development Director and oversees fundraising and donor relationships.
