Please join the Nonhuman Rights Project in urging Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont to take action to help free Minnie to one of the two accredited elephant sanctuaries in the United States: The Performing Animal Welfare Society or The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee.

Take these actions to help Minnie:

First, complete this action alert to Governor Ned Lamont. Non-US residents or those who prefer not to use our action alert can use this document to send an email to the Governor. You do not have to be a Connecticut resident to contact his office.

Then, call Governor Lamont at 860-566-4840 or 800-406-1527 and say:

  • Connecticut Residents – “Hi, I am a Connecticut resident and I am calling to ask Governor Lamont to take action to help free Minnie, a 47-year-old elephant held captive and exploited by the Commerford Zoo, to one of the two accredited sanctuaries in the United States and to investigate the mounting welfare concerns for her.”
  • Non-Connecticut Residents – “Hi, I am calling to ask Governor Lamont to take action to help free Minnie, a 47-year-old elephant held captive and exploited by the Commerford Zoo, to one of the two accredited sanctuaries in the United States and to investigate the mounting welfare concerns for her.”

Lastly, take action on social media:

  • Twitter: Tweet the following – Hi @GovNedLamont! There are urgent welfare concerns for the elephant Minnie at the Commerford Zoo in Goshen. Please call on the Commerford Zoo to release Minnie to a sanctuary & take all appropriate action to investigate the mounting concerns for her. #FreeTheCommerfordElephants
  • Facebook: Share the alert on Facebook.

Please email me at cfern@nonhumanrights.org if you receive a response from the Governor or his office.

Thank you for taking action for Minnie!
