Collaborations

Justin Marceau in conversation with Steven M. Wise

As part of our new Interview Series, NhRP President Steven M. Wise talked to Justin Marceau, a Professor of Law at the University of Denver’s Sturm College of Law, about the importance of advocating for nonhuman animals within a social justice framework. Justin has submitted amicus briefs in support of writs of habeas corpus for our nonhuman animal clients. He is the author of Beyond Cages: Animal Law and Criminal Punishment, which we recently interviewed him about for our blog.

Watch the video below, and join us on Zoom on May 27th at 2 p.m. ET when NhRP Executive Director Kevin Schneider will talk to Letitia Meynell, an associate professor of philosophy at Dalhousie University and one of a group of philosophers who has submitted amicus briefs in support of our clients’ legal personhood and rights. Letitia’s research explores the epistemology of images in science and various intersections between feminist theory and contemporary trends in biology. Her current work also engages models of evolution and scientifically-informed analyses of the moral and legal status of nonhuman animals.
